Catalyst and Sensor Applications

High surface area materials provide optimal substrates for chemical detection and material processing. GoNano Technologies can produce a range of high surface area materials and controllably modulate the surface chemistry. This can be achieved through the deposition of metal nanoparticles with defined properties alone, or further modifying the surface of the metal nanoparticle with chemical/biological agents to impart a defined functionality. GoNano is seeking opportunities within industrial chemical and biological detection markets to develop high value applications.

Metal nanoparticles are ideal catalysts. As an example of the novel properties imparted by the nanoscale; gold, inert as a bulk material, is a highly active catalyst when present as a nanoparticle. Recent fundamental studies have further revealed that various geometric parameters influence the catalytic properties of metal nanoparticles.

GoNano Technologies platform has the ability to cheaply produce high surface area materials and deposit metal nanoparticles of defined size and shape onto the high surface area materials. This provides GoNano an ideal starting point for the development of highly efficient catalyst systems. Here again, many potential applications and collaborations are possible.

GoNano has active collaborations within this area, developing optimal catalyst beds for energy related applications and is actively seek partnership opportunities for high value applications.
